How it works
Each round, a coin flip decides which kind of price path you get. The random walk moves 90 steps, each an independent random change of roughly 1% at most in either direction. The structured path has a small constant drift up or down plus a pull back toward its starting level, so it tends to trend at first and then level off or swing back. You choose what you think you see; the message tells you the answer, and a new chart follows about a second later. Your hit rate is hits divided by rounds, and pure guessing averages 50%.
Random walks produce convincing trends, double tops and breakouts by chance alone, which is why the eye is so easily fooled. A short streak of correct answers proves little: over a few rounds, luck dominates. Real price data is noisier still, and genuine structure is usually weak and unstable. That is why a trading idea needs a statistical test, for example a comparison against shuffled or simulated data, before you rely on it. The game is for illustration only.
